U of G United Way campaign exceeds fundraising goal

GUELPH  The University of Guelph community has exceeded its fundraising goal for the annual United Way campaign, raising $460,481 in 2024, surpassing its target of $450,000.

The funds ensure the support of vital community programs, including food security initiatives, housing programs, youth service and other community efforts across Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin.

Dr. John Walsh, professor of history at the College of Arts, served as campaign co-chair alongside Claire Alexander, associate director of ceremonies and events.

“It’s truly inspiring to see how every contribution matters,” said Walsh in a press release. “Big or small, each donation can make a lasting impact.”

“The United Way doesn’t just strengthen our local community, it strengthens our campus community as well,” said Alexander.
