PEARSON, Kimberley Ann (née Downward)

December 24, 1960 - February 14, 2025

With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved Kim passed away peacefully in the early hours of Valentine’s Day. It seems fitting that she left us on a day devoted to love, as she embodied love in every way—through her kindness, warmth, and the way she made each of us feel truly cherished. Kim was a devoted wife to Robert “Bob” Pearson and a loving mother to Rob (Jenn) Pearson of Burlington, James Lazazzera of Toronto, Taylor (Jason) James of Scarborough, and Brad Pearson of Scarborough. She was an adoring grandmother to her precious grandchildren—Lucas, Piper, Kalia, Sawyer, and Ella. Kim often said, “I was made to be a grandmother,” and she proved it every single day with boundless love and joy. She was a treasured sister—not only to Janet (Mike) Murphy of Vancouver Island but also to those she held as sisters of her heart. A beloved daughter-in-law to Bob and Agnes Pearson. A devoted aunt, sister-in-law, niece, cousin, and friend, Kim was an anchor to so many. Kim brought joy into our lives, making each of us feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. She was laughter and compassion, adventure and warmth—a song in the hearts of those who knew her, and the very essence of love. From childhood to adulthood, Kim was always the one to say, “I can do this.” No obstacle was too high, no challenge too great. She arrived in Erin at the start of her children’s journey and embraced her new community wholeheartedly—and in return, her community embraced her. She was honoured as Citizen of the Year, a recognition that meant the world to her. One of Kim’s greatest joys was serving as music director for Erin’s Young at Heart Singers—a name that suited the group perfectly, though she often said “Beautiful Hearts” should be included in their title. She loved to sing, she loved to laugh, and she did both at every opportunity, always choosing to focus on the positive. As we grieve, it is hard to imagine a world without her. And yet, she left pieces of herself with us—in the stories we hold dear, in the love she shared so freely. Kim lived a life filled with love, and that love remains woven into our hearts and memories. Her legacy is one of kindness, strength, and resilience—a reminder to live fully and cherish every moment. To honour her, let us carry her spirit forward in the way she would want: with kindness, with courage, with song, and with love. In accordance with Kim’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A memorial will be held celebrating her life when the flowers are in bloom. For those who wish to honor Kim’s memory with a donation, please consider contributing to St. Joes Foundation Hamilton in memory of. Your kindness and generosity would be a meaningful tribute to her life and legacy. https://stjoesfoundation.ca/?form=FUNBVCYCFFQ
