Haircut for a cause

Dear Editor:

Puslinch Optimist Barry Dawn parted with his ponytail at the Optimist Canada Day breakfast. As a result “Locks of Love” received Barry’s hair to make wigs for cancer patients and the “Ukraine Youth Association” will receive over $4,000.

In Barry’s words, “It was quite a journey. All I wanted to do was raise $300 to help the Children of the Ukraine. It is truly amazing that with the generous support of our community we raised over $4,000. For me, the best part is all the money will go to help displaced kids from the Ukraine go to camp in Acton. Thanks to everyone that helped me make a difference.”

A special thank you to Joanne Shuttleworth of the Wellington Advertiser for the great coverage that helped spread the word of Barry’s adventure.
