10th annual Trillium Road Race in Mount Forest

The crowds were out once more for the 10th annual Trillium Road Race on May 14.

The Mount Forest sportplex was filled with eager participants and supporters, despite grey skies outdoors.

Event organizer Manuel Ferreira was pleased with this year’s turnout, noting that the event started in a conjunction with a festival 10 years ago.

“The festival disappeared, but the runners liked the event so much it kept going.”

He said the event keeps growing.

“We advertise ourselves as the best fed race.”

There are other races, but he said what makes them different is that this one offers a ton of food.

“We like the wow factor and try to give better prizes – better everything.”

He added that all the organizing committee members have been on runs before and they have tried to incorporate the best ideas “and make them a little better.”

Ferreira noted bad weather managed to hold off for the most part.

Below are the top five from each race category.
