Zero tolerance for alarm tampering in Wellington North

KENILWORTH – Wellington North has zero tolerance for anyone tampering with or removing smoke or CO alarms.

Wellingon North fire chief  Dave Guilbault provided a clear message in his report to council, received on Sept. 23.

In the report Guilbault stated, “As you are aware we have a zero tolerance policy with respect to anyone tampering with or removing a Smoke/CO alarm.”

He added “Should any firefighter encounter a dwelling without an installed working Smoke/CO alarm the FPO shall be notified immediately.” Violations could cost the tenant fines of  $360 to $100,000.

Guilbault stressed “This policy is in place for public safety.”
