GUELPH –  Families in Wellington County and Guelph are invited to take part in an upcoming parent information night focused on understanding youth substance and screen use.

Parents and caregivers will hear from local experts who will share evidence-based information and practical tools to help navigate today’s complex landscape, Guelph Community Health Centre officials say.

The Understanding Youth Today: Substance and Screen Use event is hosted in collaboration with more than 10 organizations.

The session will take place on May 6 from 6 to 8pm at St. James High School (57 Victoria Rd. N., Guelph) and is  free to attend.

The event will feature a panel discussion along with opportunities for participants to engage with community partners to learn more about available resources and supports.

“This event is a great example of what’s possible when schools and community partners come together with a shared goal of supporting families,” said UGDSB manager of mental health and addictions Catherine Borland-Kerr.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to register at tinyurl.com/2wu952fy and can contact WCDSB mental health lead and senior management of student mental health services Sony Brar at sony.brar@wellingtoncdsb.ca for more information.
