A small pond would make a perfect home in the garden for aquatic plants that like to live in water.

Moisture-loving herbaceous plants that need wet soil and lots of sun would do well along its edges.

The Arboretum is having a workshop on May 22 from 9 am to 5pm on the design, construction and maintenance of small ponds. Participants will learn how to create a sanctuary in any size space with water, plants, rocks and ornaments.

They will learn how to place and position a pond, all construction materials needed along with electrical and maintenance requirements for a pond through all the four seasons, as well as how to have a Eco friendly, safe, and soothing pond. Ponds may attract all the small birds and doves.

Guest instructor Alberta Munro, will lead the workshop at The Arboretum. The fee is $75 and the registration deadline is May 13. For more information or to register call The Arboretum at 824-4120 extension 52358.
