WOODHAMS, Pamela Naomi Ruth, “Pam” (nee Smith)
October 6, 1938 - January 24, 2026
Pam died peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph, ON. Beloved wife of Donald Harvey Woodhams for 37 years. Predeceased by parents Edgar and Dora Smith (née Hartwright), daughter Becky McArthur (née Skerritt), son-in-law Mike McArthur, brothers-in-law Bill Dobbie and Ron Woodhams, sister-in-law and close friend Charlotte Woodhams, and former husband Les Skerritt. Dear mother of two remaining children, Kevin Skerritt and Michael Skerritt (Bonnie). Loving grandmother of Leslie Skerritt, Sasha Balint, Kirsten Johnston (Justin), Pamela Skerritt-Ricketts (Donald), Bret McArthur, Wade McArthur, and Veronica Joy-Morin (Zech); and loving great-grandma of Liam Skerritt-Ricketts and Austin Johnston. Pam was a dear sister to Rosemary Martin (Ernie) and a beloved auntie to many nieces and nephews. Pam also had a special place in her heart for Eileen Balint and Sharon Brazill. Pam was born in Worcester Hospital, Worcestershire, England on October 6, 1938. Pam and Rosie came to Canada in September, 1948 with their parents Edgar and Dora. They lived in Mt. Forest with Dora’s brother, George and Velma (Hartwright) until Edgar got a job in Fergus at Beatty Bros. Pam married Les Skerritt in 1957 and they were blessed with three beautiful children, Becky, Kevin, and Michael. Pam loved to bake and can vegetables from her garden. As her children got older, she also took care of other children in their home. Pam went to work at Bon Accord Farm where she worked as a cook for a lot of hungry men. After 10 years, she moved on to cook for Woolwich Lodge where she made a lot of friends, both residents and staff. Her final position was at Campus Day Care cooking for 70 children plus staff, ordering food, making menus, etc. She loved it and stayed for many years until she retired at 70. Pam’s hobbies were reading, gardening, camping, feeding meals to family and friends and tending to her bird feeders. She loved to enter the Fergus Fall Fair where she entered up to 60 items each year. Gardening brought her to find her husband Don. They met at Gerrie’s rent-a-plot garden when they rented nearby plots. They married in 1988. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, Fergus for decades until Pam and Don rented the church house of Bethel Mennonite Church in 1993. Due to Pam’s declining health, in the summer of 2025 she could no longer be caregiver to Don and he moved into Royal Terrace Ltc., Palmerston. Pam missed him greatly in her last days but held onto the knowledge that God knows the beginning from the end. Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira and from 9:45am until time of burial at 10:15am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Bethel Mennonite Cemetery, 6772 8th Line, Elora. A funeral followed the burial at 11am in the church, with a reception after. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Bible Society or Royal Terrace Palmerston Auxiliary would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
