Paul and Blair Wightman, fourth generation owners of Wightman Telecom, are continuing the family tradition of giving back to their communities by donating 100 per cent of the proceeds from Wightman Telecom: The First 100 Years to area libraries.

After publishing the 250-page hardcover book in 2011, the Wightman brothers decided it would be appropriate to commit the funds from the local history book directly back to local libraries.

Last month the Wightmans completed a 12-library tour and donated $1,000 each to Wellington County libraries in Clifford, Harriston, Mount Forest and Palmerston, as well as libraries in Listowel, Hanover, Teeswater, Mildmay, Walkerton, Howick, Ayton and Neustadt.

The donations will go to the children and youth sections at each branch (technology, books and activities).

“Our children are the future, so it makes sense that we would support them as they learn and grow,” said co-chair Paul Wightman.

The history book can still be purchased at several locations including Wightman’s and RBC in Clifford.
