New Guelph-Eramosa councillors were sworn in without much fanfare during a brief meeting on Monday night.

Returning Mayor Chris White congratulated newcomers David Wolk and Corey Woods, as well as returning councillors John Scott and Doug Breen on their election.

“We’ve got a strong team of committed folks,” White told the gallery, adding he is really pleased with the make-up of the new council.

He said there is a lot of work to be done this term and he is hoping the new council can keep up the momentum of the previous one, when it comes to local projects.

Breen said he’s been a councillor off and on since 1997 and other than his family, it is the most rewarding experience of his life. It’s also the “most exciting and the most mundane,” among other adjectives, Breen noted. He thanked the electorate for seeing fit to re-elect him, as well as his family.

Woods thanked his “extended family” for all the support and announced he and his girlfriend, Kate, got engaged last weekend.

Scott and Wolk both expressed their gratitude for being elected and said they look forward to working with their fellow councillors.
