West end fire response trials start on May 1

Some situations are known as trials by fire, but here it will be a trial of fire responses for the Puslinch Fire Department.

Councillors here have finally agreed to testing the concept of hosting a second fire station in the municipality - based in the vicinity of Puslinch Lake - in  the southwest portion of the municipality, following passage of its 2013 budget on April 17.

During the same meeting, council authorized staff to proceed with the Puslinch west end fire protection response trial from May 1 to Oct. 15.

“This has been included in our 2013 budget,” said Mayor Dennis Lever. He added staff are directed to notify area residents of the response trial prior to its start and to provide general notification through the Newspaper.

Upon completion, staff are to notify council with the results of the trial.
