Wellington Water Watchers announces 2Rivers Festival
The Wellington Water Watchers will once again be hosting the 2Rivers Festival.
The 2Rivers Festival is held annually during May and June to celebrate the Speed and Eramosa rivers, which meet in Guelph.
The 2Rivers Festival is a series of free events along the Speed and Eramosa rivers. This year the festival will also include a new “stream” of feature events for a fee where the funds benefit water protection.
This year’s feature event is Spring Awakes, which is a performance arts hike adventure to benefit Ignatius Old Growth Forest.
Since the festival’s beginning in 2012, people have gathered to share, enjoy, and discover all that these rivers bring to the community.
Guelph’s river system is its most important ecological, cultural and recreational feature, organizers say.
The annual 2Rivers Festival is a forum to showcase and celebrate the two rivers in Guelph and to engage the community in imagining how everyone can become a participant in the regeneration of river ecosystems.
With 24 public events including music, indigenous river knowledge, hidden streams, art, rowing, yoga, river creatures, hikes, bikes and trees, there are a variety of experiences for everyone to enjoy.
