Another step has been taken toward moving Groves Memorial Community Hospital to Wellington Place.
On July 15, council supported managing director of planning and development Brett Salmon’s report, which recommended approval of a bylaw to permit the Wellington Place lands to be deemed an institutional campus.
The County of Wellington and Groves Memorial Community Hospital jointly applied for the zoning bylaw amendment.
The 105 acres was acquired by the county and the hospital in 2009.
In 2010, Wellington County hired a consulting team to prepare a concept plan. That plan includes the creation of an institutional campus which would feature a new hospital site.
Centre Wellington councillors authorized declaring the land an institutional campus with no further discussion.
