Wellington OPP gets good rating in survey

Local OPP officials are extremely pleased with the results of a recent satisfaction survey.

Residents of Wellington County were asked to participate in a community satisfaction survey by an independent firm between Jan. 14 and March 31, regarding the service of the county OPP.

Randomly selected telephone numbers were used to sample respondents who were at least 16 years old, residents of Wellington County and non-OPP members, regarding their satisfaction level with Wellington OPP service.

An analysis of this data showed the OPP received an overall satisfaction rating of 95.2 per cent, including:

– 98.9 % of respondents felt very safe or safe in Wellington County. Overall, 95.2% of respondents were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the quality of police service provided by the OPP;

– 83.8% of respondents said the OPP were “very involved” or “somewhat involved” in their community;

– 93.9% of respondents were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the OPP’s ability to work with communities to solve local problems.;

– 90.8% of respondents were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the OPP’s visibility in their community;

– 93.5% of respondents were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the OPP’s visibility on the highways;

– 93.1% were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the ease of contacting the OPP;

– 84.6% of respondents were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the OPP’s enforcement of aggressive driving laws;

– 94.6% were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the OPP’s enforcement of drinking and driving laws;

– 86.3% were “very satisfied” or “satisfied” with the contact they had with the OPP; and

– awareness of local programs: 12.7% SafeGuard Ontario Property Security Program; 54.5% Lock it or Lose it; 25.3% Cottage Patrol; and 56.4% Youth Programs such as the School Resource Officer, OPP K.I.D.S Program; 93.9% RIDE Program; 20.9% Last Drink Program; 39.8% Road Watch; and 81.1% Long Weekend Education/Enforcement Initiatives such as the Seatbelt Campaign.

“We will continue to work towards improvement in traffic safety, crime prevention and community relations for our citizens, business owners and visitors.”
