Wellington North Ward 2 race heating up

There is a three-way race shaping up for one ward in the township for the Oct. 27 municipal election.

Brett McHugh has entered his name on the unofficial list of candidates and is seeking the Ward 2 seat currently held by incumbent councillor Sherry Burke. Former councillor Bob Mason has also entered his name and is seeking a return to municipal politics.

McHugh’s entry is the only change in the line-up for those seeking a council position.

In the race for mayor, incumbent Ray Tout is being challenged by current councillor Andy Lennox.

Ward 1 incumbent Dan Yake is facing a challenge from Shawn McLeod.

Ward 3 incumbent councillor Mark Goetz is facing a challenge from former township councillor Ross Chaulk.

In Ward 4 Steve McCabe is running against former councillor John Matusinec.

The race for the county councillor positions remains unchanged, with Ward 3 incumbent Gary Williamson and Ward 4 incumbent Lynda White the only ones to put their names forward.
