Wellington North’s water and sewer committee is recommending two environmental assessments on Mount Forest pumping stations in 2008.
A recent report to council noted an evaluation was done by B.M. Ross on the Durham and Cork Street pumping stations to determine capacity.
They determined that the Durham Street station is running at capacity and the adjacent sewer line is surcharging and actually being used as storage. The Cork Street station will be at capacity once the new arena is brought on line and the first phase of the Saugeen Valley Nursing Home development is completed.
A new pumping station will be required to service the Murphy property. To upgrade and construct the stations they each must have a Class B environmental assessment done. The estimated cost to complete the work separately is $102,000. The estimate to do them together is $52,500.
The committee agreed they should be done together, and be included in this year’s budget. The assessments s would be completed in 2008, which allows construction in 2009, if approved.
