Wellington North election races shaping up

The municipal election race here will see challenges in three of the wards and for the mayor’s seat, according to the most current candidate list posted on the township website.

Incumbent councillor Mark Goetz is the latest entry into the October 27 race and will square off against former councillor Ross Chaulk in Ward 3.

The Ward 4 seat is up for grabs after being vacated by councillor  Andy Lennox who is running in the mayor’s race. Former councillor John Matusinec will go against Steve McCabe in the ward.

Incumbent councillor Dan Yake will face a challenge from Shawn McLeod in Ward 1.

Councillor Sherry Burke, who is seeking a second term on council, remains unchallenged in Ward 2.

Mayor Ray Tout is also seeking a second term in the race against Lennox.

County councillors Gary Williamson, Ward 3 and Lynda White, Ward 4 also remain unchallenged.
