Wellington Heights athletes feted at year-end assembly

MOUNT FOREST – Student athletes at Wellington Heights Secondary School in Mount Forest were recognized for their accomplishments in varsity sports this year at the school’s year-end assembly on June 16 in the school cafetorium.

The following students were recognized as athletes of the year: 

– Junior Girls: Addie MacDonald; 

– Junior Boys: Declan Lisk; 

– Senior Girls: Bella van Tol; and 

– Senior Boys: Alex Neal.

Coaches also selected recipients of Recognition and Most Valuable Player Awards in each sport for the year.

The winners included:

– Liam Aitken for boys ice hockey; 

– Lily Baker for junior badminton, ultimate frisbee and  curling; 

–  Kellen Campos-Callaghan for cross country running; 

– Logan Corrigan for junior boys volleyball; 

– Kylie Dalal for junior girls basketball; 

– Nicholas Duxbury for Special Olympics; 

– Lorelei Gade for senior girls basketball; 

– Austin LaCombe for Special Olympics; 

– Carly Lamont for recreational slo-pitch; 

– Pryce Leask for boys lacrosse; 

– Declan Lisk for track and field; 

– Jude Lodge for junior boys basketball; 

– Callum McDonald for golf; 

– Addie MacDonald for junior girls volleyball and girls soccer; 

– Noah Seddon for boys soccer; 

– Noah Schlosser for Special Olympics Unified; 

– Addison Schmidt for senior girls volleyball and competitive slo-pitch; 

– Faith Wilde for senior  badminton and Special Olympics Unified; and

– Bella van Tol for girls field hockey and girls ice hockey.
