WELLINGTON COUNTY - Wellington County residents were under the weather Thursday after a low-pressure storm system brought between 20 and 30 cm of snowfall.

Both school boards in Wellington County closed schools for the day, and the county’s rural transit service, Ride Well, is cancelled.

Library branches across the county are closing early, at 5pm. The Service Canada office at the Aboyne library branch was closed for the day and will next open on Feb. 5.

In Erin, curbside waste collection in the town’s rural areas is cancelled, with delays expected in the town’s urban areas. Delays are also expected for curbside collection in Wellington North.

According to Wellington County OPP, 14 collisions had been reported by mid afternoon on Jan. 15.

Snowfall is expected to taper off across the county by Thursday evening before starting again around noon on Friday, with 2 to 4cm expected.
