Thirty-three children attending the weird animals vacation bible school at Faith Lutheran Church brightened the day of seniors living at Highland Manor on Aug. 22, the last day of their camp.
“If you ever feel alone, feel different, don’t understand, do wrong or are afraid, you may feel like a weird animal … but remember … Jesus loves you,” was the theme of the week’s activities at vacation bible school.
Volunteers from St. James Anglican and Faith Lutheran Churches put their heads and resources together for a great week.
The children danced to new songs, dramatized Bible stories, played games, made discoveries, created crafts and ate homemade snacks.
Special guests Marty the Magician and Joan McBurney the Sheltie Lady also entertained. Organizers Helen Henderson, Heidi May and Ingrid Kebbel-Beer were thrilled with the good response to the program but were exhausted from the busy week. “ If only I could bottle the kids’ energy and enthusiasm” said Kebbel-Beer.
Organziers thanked to the teen leaders, adult volunteers, kitchen helpers and others that made the week a success.
