WEB ONLY: OSSTF, Upper Grand school board ratify settlements

Members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation District 18 teacher bargaining unit and oc­casional teacher bargaining unit have ratified settlements reached with the Upper Grand District School Board.

The agreements will be in place until Aug. 31, 2012.

Sandra Sahli, provincial ex­ecutive officer of the two groups and chairman of the Dis­trict 18 negotiating teams said, "OSSTF/FEESO is pleas­ed that we have been able to arrive at agreements with the Upper Grand District School Board on behalf of both secondary teachers and occa­sional teachers. These settle­ments provide a solid foun­dation for the next four years ... All negotiations … in OSSTF/­FEESO District 18 have now reached a successful conclu­sion, said Sahli.

The groups, founded in 1919, have 60,000 members across Ontario. They include public high school teachers, occasional teachers, educa­tion­al assistants, continuing edu­cation teachers and instructors, psychologists, secretaries, speech-language pathologists, social workers, plant support personnel, attendance counsel­lors, and others in education.
