WEB ONLY: Big Rig Truck Show – July 10 and July 11

Peeling & gleaming at the Earl Hardy Trucking Big Rig Nationals Truck Show.  Millions of dollars worth of trucks and equipment will participate at the 2009 expanded, Geared for the Trucker, event.   Dozens of  truckers, racers and fans from the area, are expected to attend the July 10th and 11th  event at the Grand Bend Motorplex, in Grand Bend, Ontario.

Sherry Clarke, Big Rig Show organizer/promotions is excited with the Trucking Industry’s reception regarding the Show expanding to a two day event and the addition of a Trade Show and Wash & Park.  She states “in spite of the lagging economy, the reception is very positive and growing.  The success of Big Rig in past years as a one day event, the over 300 manicured acres and now a 2 day event have formed a solid foundation for Big Rig growth in 2009 and in future years.”

Rubber will peel on the asphalt track as trucks hammer down the ¼ mile.  The Big Rigs (semi’s, and straight trucks) and pickups will challenge the light tree.  The ‘Free for all Friday’, a race for anything with wheels (trucks, pickups, cars, and bikes), begins 6 pm, July 10.  Saturday, July 11 is for trucks only. Time trails and official race beginning at 11 am.  Who will have the best time?

Ron Biekx, Grand Bend Motorplex, General Manager, states “We’re ready for the Big Rigs. It’s a lot of fun for all of us when Earl Hardy and the trucker contingent show up. You can’t help but love the CB ‘Trash-talkin’ too”.

Shiny, sparkling trucks will enter the Show & Shine competition.  Teams of judges closely examine each truck to determine which truck is the best in each of the 24 different Show & Shine classes.

Wash & Park, new for 2009, offers an opportunity for truckers coming in off the road, who haven’t had the time to prepare for judging, to participate. Truckers still on a run are also welcome.

Registration for Show & Shine and Wash & Park is available by pre-registration or at the gate July 9th, 10th and Saturday July 11 until 11 am.
