GUELPH – We Choose Local, a Guelph-based e-commerce marketplace, has been awarded the Emerging Business Award at the Guelph Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Awards of Excellence gala, on June 19.
The award recognizes new businesses that demonstrate exceptional innovation, growth potential, and community impact.
Since launching in Guelph, We Choose Local has brought on over 23 independent retailers, listed more than 1,800 local products, and introduced a next-day delivery model designed to make shopping local as easy as ordering from Amazon, officials state.
“We’re honoured and grateful to receive this recognition from the Guelph Chamber,” said Patti Mara, founder and CEO of We Choose Local. “This award is a reflection of the incredible local retailers, dedicated team members, and community champions who believe in our vision of making local shopping convenient, rewarding, and community building.”
According to officials, 86 per cent of Canadians say shopping local matters, only 13% do it regularly.
The platform bridges this gap by providing a centralized marketplace, seamless ordering, and curated local delivery.
This award marks a milestone in the company’s mission to strengthen communities through values-driven commerce.
