Waterloo men face weapon, drug charges

CENTRE WELLINGTON – Two Waterloo residents are facing weapon and drug charges after their vehicle was stopped by police.

Wellington County OPP officials say the stop, conducted on July 20 at about 7:30pm on Wellington Road 18, was the result of an investigation that also involved Grey Bruce and Huron-Perth OPP officers.

“As a result of the traffic stop, a loaded handgun and a quantity of drugs and Canadian currency was located and seized,” police stated in a press release.

“The estimated value of the seized property is over $11,500.”

Kanaan Ebanks-Daley and Ethan Peter Krzyz, both 22, of Waterloo, were charged with:

  • possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
  • occupying a vehicle knowing there was a firearm;
  • unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm;
  • carrying a concealed weapon;
  • careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition; and
  • possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.

Ebanks-Daley was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both men were held pending a bail hearing.
