Who watches Wellington’s Water Watchers?

At the Nov. 23 Wellington North council meeting, the water and sewer minutes noted a meeting with Wellington Water Watcher to discuss the group and talk about drinking water issues in the township.

Councillor Ross Chaulk asked who the group was.

“Who are they? I’ve heard of Weight Watchers but not water watchers.

Councillor John Matusinec quipped “Same thing ... but they watch water.”

Works Superintendent Gary Williamson said he believes the group to be from the Guelph area.

“What they’re doing is going to schools to promote awareness of well water, where it comes from, and what one should and shouldn’t do.”

The discussion was held in regard to going to schools in Arthur and Mount Forest.

Williamson said at this point nothing has been set up, it was just the group hoping to expand on what it was already doing.
