War effort

Wilma MacGregor (nee Greenley), back row left, was one of many women who worked at Canada Packers in Harriston during the Second World War. She worked on a butter machine and later cracked eggs to make powdered eggs. Both products, she said, were sent overseas for Allied soldiers. “My husband, who was in the RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) ... said they tasted good,” noted MacGregor. Joining her in this 1941 photograph are Betty Steinaker, back row right, and, front row from left: Betty Reeves, Betty Glenn and Anne Prior.           Submitted photo
