WATERLOO/ WELLINGTON – The Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington is celebrating the success of its 2026 Walk for Alzheimer’s, held on May 30 in four communities across the region: Kitchener, Guelph, Mount Forest and Cambridge.

Organizers state in a media release that hundreds of participants gathered to show their support for people living with dementia and their care partners. They add the events brought together families, friends, volunteers, sponsors, healthcare partners, long-term care homes and community leaders for a day filled with connection, hope and community spirit.

While final donations continue to arrive, the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington is happy to announce that the campaign has already exceeded its fundraising goal, raising more than $170,000 to date.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received across all four communities,” said CEO Michelle Martin. “The enthusiasm shown by our walkers and supporters was truly inspiring. Every dollar raised stays local and helps ensure that people living with dementia and their care partners can access the programs, services, education, and support they need.”

All funds raised through the Walk for Alzheimer’s support local programs and services delivered by the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington, including Minds in Motion, a social recreation program that helps people living with early to mid-stage dementia and their care partners stay active, connected and engaged.

As dementia rates continue to rise across Canada, community support remains critical to ensuring individuals and families have access to resources that improve quality of life and help them navigate the dementia journey.

The Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington extends its thanks to every participant, donor, volunteer, sponsor, community partner, and supporter who helped make the 2026 Walk for Alzheimer’s such an outstanding success.
