Volunteers appreciated

The menu called for burgers and buns, but with the tremendous response from the community of volunteers and the continual threat of rain, the menu and venue changed.

Those who attended the annual Minto volunteer appreciation evening on Sept. 22 were offered generous portions of pulled beef, pulled pork, tossed salad, macaroni salad, vegetables, and oatmeal cookies, chocolate cake, and vanilla ice cream at the community complex in Harriston.

Mayor David Anderson was grateful for the strong volunteer support throughout the community.

Deputy Mayor Judy Dirksen was pleased so many signed in, listing their volunteer organizations.

She applauded the efforts of everyone including councillors Dave Turton and Rick Hembly for preparing and serving the meal.

Everyone received an essential needs kit for volunteers filled with items to remind them of the great things they accomplish each day for other people.
