Volunteer luncheon planned

WELLINGTON NORTH – A luncheon to celebrate township volunteers is set for Sept. 24.

Hosted by the municipality, the celebration of local volunteers will be a drop-in event  between 11:30am and 1:30pm at the municipal office in Kenilworth (7490 Sideroad 7 West).

The event will include a catered lunch provided by the Wellington North Fire Service, cake cutting and mayor’s welcome at 12:30pm. In order to help plan for the event, registration is required. Registration closes on Sept. 17 at 4pm.

The volunteer celebration coincides with the launch of the 2021 Wellington North Culture Days activities.

In 2021, Culture Days Ontario is encouraging communities to celebrate over a one-month period from Sept. 24 to Oct. 24.

In addition to this volunteer celebration, other initiatives planned during Culture Days in Wellington North include guided walking tours of the Mount Forest cemetery, the annual Metz Pumpkinfest and more.

“Volunteers are the heart of Wellington North, and we look forward to recognizing and celebrating volunteerism in our community with you. Please come out and join us on Sept. 24,” states Mayor Andy Lennox .

The celebration meal will include a hot dog, hamburger or sausage; a side salad; beverage and dessert
