Vimy Oaks ceremony

The Arthur Legion will be planting a Vimy Oak Tree at 1pm on Canada Day at the Arthur Cenotaph. The tree is a little piece of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, which decimated the landscape.

Lieutenant Leslie Miller of Scarborough, Ontario, gathered a handful of acorns from a partially buried English oak on the ridge.

He grew the oaks and now the saplings from those trees are being planted across Canada, commemorating 100 years since the battle.
