Village institution closes doors after 40 years

Little KaTy Variety has closed its doors after 40 years of selling everything from milk to marshmallows, and soft drinks to taco sauce.

The sudden announcement came last week.

Owners Ken and Brenda Taylor set a sign on the front door stating the closure was caused by a poor economy, constant closings of the main village street, and the government refusal to crack down on the illegal sale of cigarettes.

The Wellington Advertiser got several calls and emails about the  closing. Several said they will need  a place to pick up the wide variety of Newspapers Little KaTy offered, as well as groceries and snacks.

The Taylors thanked their clients for a great 40 years of support. Attempts to obtain a comment were unsuccessful.
