Van De VEN, Gerardus (Charlie) W., 87, of Alma, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2017 at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Arthur. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who judged his success by the success of his family. Charlie’s passion for farming and family gave him the most pleasure in life. Details for the celebration of his life is to be shared in the New Year. Charlie was born in Holland on August 31, 1930. He is preceded in death by his Son Barrie Van De Ven and his Brother Wim Van De Ven. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lena Van De Ven, his sons, Marty Van De Ven and wife Marian with children Jennifer Ericson and husband Matt, Robin Saunders and husband Matt, Andy Van De Ven, William Van De Ven and his partner Tara with children Danen and Cole. Charlie also leaves his siblings Ans, Martien, Mein and great grandchildren Ian, Owen and Braydon. The family of Gerardus Van De Ven wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the care provided by Caressant Care Nursing Staff and Hospital at Groves Memorial Hospital.
