Upper Credit Humane Society makes Forbes executive director

ERIN – The Upper Credit Humane Society (UCHS) has appointed Travis Forbes as its new executive director, effective Oct. 5.

Forbes joins UCHS after three years with the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, where he most recently served as national event manager. His work has focused on philanthropy, fundraising, community engagement, events and sponsorship.

Forbes said he is excited to join UCHS at a time of growth and looks forward to bringing “a fresh perspective, new energy and greater awareness” to the animals that need it most.

He will work with the board, staff, volunteers, donors and community partners as the organization looks to expand its reach, strengthen fundraising and deepen its connection with the community.

Susan Thomsen, chair of the UCHS board, said Forbes’ leadership experience and approach to community building will be an asset as the organization looks toward its future.

“The Board is incredibly excited to welcome Travis to Upper Credit Humane Society,” Thomsen said. “His leadership experience, passion for philanthropy and ability to bring people together make him an exciting addition to our organization.”

Forbes said his focus will remain on the animals at the centre of UCHS’s mission.

“At the end of the day, this is about the animals,” Forbes said. “Every partnership we build, every dollar we raise and every new opportunity we pursue should help us create better outcomes for the animals who need us most.”
