UGDSB opens applications for Community Environmental Leadership Program
GUELPH – Students study climate and environmental leadership though a semester-long program at the University of Guelph’s Arboretum Nature Centre.
The Community Environmental Leadership Program (CELP) is a four-credit experiential learning program for Grade 10 Upper Grand District School Board students.
Participants earn credits in science, physical education, interdisciplinary studies and civics and careers through outdoor education, teaching elementary students and exploring current climate issues.
Grade 9 students at Centre Wellington District High School and John F. Ross, Guelph and Centennial Collegiate can apply to the program, which has a $250 fee, which can be reduced or waived for students in need.
The board is looking for students who are punctual and can submit assignments on time, are responsible, and have a commitment to their academics.
Applications must be accompanied by two references from Grade 9 teachers.
Applications are due before Feb. 13 at 3pm.
