ELORA – The township will be removing two trees in the Elora Greenspace beginning April 14.
In an April 11 press release, officials stated two Norway maples will come down.
The decision to remove the trees followed a detailed arborist assessment that identified they are in declining health and pose a potential safety risk in the high-use public area, the township says.
As well, the trees are limiting the health of nearby trees.
“While the decision to remove mature trees is never taken lightly, this step is necessary to support the long-term health and sustainability of the greenspace,” officials state.
“The removal will allow the three surrounding trees to thrive with better access to light, nutrients, and space, ensuring a stronger, healthier urban forest for years to come.”
This work is being carried out as part of the township’s urban forestry program with funding allocated through the program’s dedicated budget.
