NORMANDY – Two Wellington County women are part of a team of athletes taking part in the FEI Driving World Championship for single horses this week in France.

Kelly Bruder, who grew up on a farm in Ariss and now lives in Europe, and Carole Precious, whose farm is in Puslinch, are part of the three-person driving team announced by Equestrian Canada. The third member of the team is Catherine Levasseur of Sainte-Sophie, Que.

The FEI (Fédération Équestre Internationale) Driving World Championship takes place from Sept. 19 to 22 at Haras National du Pin, a 1,000-hectare estate in Normandy, France.

The competition, which sees the driver directing a horse harnessed to a carriage, consists of three components meant to showcase the versatility, training and talents of both horse and driver – dressage, marathon and obstacle or cones driving.
