Truck tenders

The Town of Minto has approved the purchase of a new tanker truck for the fire department.

At the July 8 meeting, fire chief Chris Harrow noted the replacement of the tanker for the Clifford fire station is mandated in the department’s truck replacement plan.

Seven proposals were received to supply the vehicle. Council approved Harrow’s recommendation to purchase the vehicle from Ottawa-based Eastway Emergency Vehicles at a cost of $222,312 plus HST. Council also authorized spending up to $2,688 for additional options if required.

Also approved at the July 8 meeting was a tender from Leslie Motors of Harriston to supply a 2015 three-quarter ton 4×4 pickup truck to the public works department.

Public works director Brian Hansen reported the tender of $33,050, less $750 for a trade in of a 1997 GMC pickup, was the only one received.

Hansen noted the price does not include HST or a road weather watch system and accessories, which will add an additional $7,000 to the cost.
