Truck Show presents cash

On Oct. 28, the directors and staff of the Fergus Truck Show presented cheques totaling $45,986 to 25 area groups that assisted at this year’s event. The groups work­ed a combined total of 6,569 hours, and the presentation brings the total raised by the Fergus Truck Show for commu­nity groups and Fergus Recreation to more than $645,450.

This year’s attendance reach­ed just over 72,000, up from last year’s numbers.

President Don Watson said, “The support of all Fergus Truck Show co-sponsors, the truck and tractor pull sponsors, the individual award sponsors, the equipment and service suppliers, spectators and parti­cipants allows the show to grow … and assists local groups in fund raising.”

The groups assisting had a total of more than 1,100 volun­teers. In addition, there were hundreds of individual non group volunteers working during the weekend event.

The groups that received a share of the profits are:

– Belwood Lions Club, $1,820;

– Centre Wellington Cham­ber of Commerce, $2,642.50;

– Centre Wellington Ex­change Group, $1,337;

– Community Resource Centre, $917;

– Country Wings, $1,736;

– CW In-Line Hockey, $4,508;

– CWDHS Mission Team $1,582;

– Elmira Mennonite Youth Fellowship, $400.75;

– Elora Mohawks $1286.25;

– Fergus Boy Scouts, $1,232;

– Fergus Curling Club $1,904;

– Fergus Elora Snowmobile Club, $2,632;

– Fergus Devils $413;

– Fergus Highland Rugby Club, $4,511.50;

– Fergus Lions Club, $672;

– Fergus Tennis Club, $292.25;

– Grand Harmony, $2,555;

– Guelph Lions Club, $1,519;

– Melville United Church, $1359.75;

– Men for Missions, $4,634;

– Royal City Ambassadors, $2,318.75;

– St. Joseph Church, $311.50;
