Trespassing ATV riders assault, threaten couple

ERIN – Police are looking for help to identify two people who assaulted and threatened a couple on a local trail earlier this month.

Wellington County OPP officials say that on April 5 at around 8pm, a small, red ATV “was trespassing” on a section of Cataract Trail trail near Stanley Park.

Two riders on the ATV “approached a couple on the trail and a 60-year-old male was assaulted,” police stated in an April 13 press release.

“The victim and his 54-year-old spouse fled to a vehicle where one assailant continued to threaten the couple. The male required treatment for his injuries.”

Police describe one suspect as male, tanned, average height, with black, thinning hair with a bald spot, and a light beard. He was wearing a camo jacket, grey hoodie, and white shoes. The second suspect is described as male wearing a blue parka and dark pants.
