Tree of the Year art show, sale at Erin Town Hall
ERIN – The Town of Erin is hosting this year’s Tree Trust’s Tree of the Year Art Show and Sale at Town Hall.
Erin Tree Trust is an environmental charity group dedicated to preserving mature trees in Erin.
Earlier this year, the group held a Tree of the Year contest, which encouraged participants to vote for their favourite tree in the community.
The winner was “Henry” an American Elm who is over 160 years old, standing tall over the side of Wellington Rd. 124, in between Brisbane and Erin Village.
This show is a collection of works inspired by Henry, celebrating mature trees in the community, while demonstrating a deep appreciation of nature.
The exhibit includes a collection of 30 pieces by 27 different artists, including acrylic paintings, pen and ink, watercolour, mixed media, sculptures and even a colourful piece of blown glass.
“I want to extend a massive thank you to Erin Tree Trust for their phenomenal work,” said Erin Mayor Michael Dehn, who attended the unveiling of the display at Over Here Community Arts Adventure’s Arts by the Pond event at the Hillsburgh Library on Sept. 19.
“By protecting and celebrating elder trees like Henry, they ensure our natural heritage remains rooted for generations to come.”
The art display will be up until Nov. 2 and is available for viewing during regular business hours, open weekdays from 8:30am to 4:30pm
