Track runner out of world finals
Local track runner Mark Patton finished 10th in his heat during the International Association of Athletics Federations’ World U20 Championship in Bydgoszcz, Poland on July 19.
The former Centre Wellington District High School student ran the 1,500m race at three minutes 50 seconds, six seconds behind the fastest competitor, Ayoub Sniba from Morocco.
The top three from each heat and the next three fastest advanced to the final which is to take place July 21. Patton placed 26th of 43.
