ELORA – Centre Wellington representatives are scheduled to meet with environment minister Jeff Yurek on Dec. 2 to discuss water in the township.

“This is about our sixth meeting with the minister or minister’s staff,” Mayor Kelly Linton said on Nov. 25. However, this is the first meeting with Yurek.

Linton, a contingent of municipal staff and MPP Ted Arnott will attend the meeting to share two messages.

First, they will update Yurek on what the township has been doing on water studies and the progress made in implementing water supply master plan recommendations.

“The second thing is to thank him for the nine month extension (on the province’s moratorium on new water bottling permits), but push for an extension until 2023 at least for Centre Wellington,” Linton said.

He added he will update council on how the meeting goes.
