Township sets days off for its staff
Centre Wellington Township employees will celebrate two holidays on the days which they fall this year.
Council voted on Monday that staff will take off on July 1 and Nov. 11.
Canada Day (also celebrated as Dominion Day in Elora) falls on a Thursday. Remembrance Day is also on a Thursday.
The township will also close its administration offices over Christmas. They will close on December 27, a Monday, until Jan. 4, a Tuesday.
When the vote was called, council was unanimous on the July 1 and Nov. 11 holidays. Councillors Walt Visser and Bob Foster opposed the Christmas shut down.
Councillor Kirk McElwain was absent.
Since amalgamation, council has every year shut down the township offices over Christmas, allowing staff time off if they use their holidays.
