Wellington North is seeking funding from Wellington County to go forward with phase two of the West Luther Trail, according to a report at the Sept. 11 meeting.

The trail committee is hoping to complete the trail from Sideroad 7 to Wellington Road 16. The Trail currently starts at Eliza Street in Arthur and runs east toward the East-West Luther Townline. The project will cost $16,485.

The Stack family has donated $8,300 in memory of Dave Stack who passed away in April. He was a proponent of the West Luther Trail.

The township is seeking $8,185 in funding from the County.

The money will go toward repairing bridge decking and adding trail benches, trees and a gravel trail surface.

Council unanimously approved the application to the county for funding.

Mayor Andy Lennox said it is good to “continue with the legacy that Dave started.”
