BRUCEDALE – A lower-than-expected cost for gravel will mean a substantial cost reduction for Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Public works director Harry Niemi reported to council on April 1 a single gravel quote from Cox Construction that would amount to $108,000, not including HST, based on required quantities for maintenance of shoulders and gravel roads. The department had budgeted $145,000 for gravel in 2019, so there will be a savings of up to $36,500, or the possibility of ordering extra gravel if needed.

When there is only one bid for a major expenditure, staff are required to provide a report to council.
