WELLINGTON NORTH – Municipal officials here say the township plans to have splash pads in Mount Forest and Arthur open by June 26.

The township made the announcement on June 12, the same day the region entered the province's second stage of easing restrictions put in place to stop the spread of the COVID-19.

Stage two includes the reopening of pools and splash pads, as well as restaurants and bars with outdoor dine-in services, barber shops and hair salons, shopping malls and private campgrounds, among other services/businesses.

"The recreation team at the Township of Wellington North are working to develop signage and disinfection procedures, underscoring the importance of public and employee safety, prior to the opening of the splash pads in Arthur and Mount Forest," notes the township press release.

Officials said they hope to have the splash pads open by June 26.

"We appreciate your patience as we continue to adapt to the evolving public health situation and the easing of restrictions by the Province of Ontario," states the release.

Officials also stressed that local  playgrounds remain closed.
