Township looks to replace public works director
Two changes in senior staff positions were approved by Guelph-Eramosa council in closed meetings last week.
Council endorsed the permanent hiring of CAO Kim Wingrove, who was hired to the township’s top staff position six months ago.
Mayor Chris White told the Advertiser council decided on the hiring after a performance review of Wingrove’s work since she took over the job.
“We’re bringing her on, on a permanent basis,” White said. “She was brought in at a time when it was a baptism by fire. It’s a busy time with some controversial issues.”
Those issues include the hidden quarry proposed near Rockwood by James Dick Construction.
White said Wingrove’s performance has been “outstanding” in dealing with issues coming to council.
“We’re satisfied with her performance,” he added.
However, White declined comment on the resignation of Saidur Rahman, the township’s director of public works. The resignation was received early last week and took effect immediately.
Rahman was hired in November.
“Any questions for the director of public works will be dealt with by me,” Wingrove said.
She said council and staff will meet to discuss a job description for the position and she didn’t rule out council hiring a consultant to assist with the process.
