CENTRE WELLINGTON – After completing three major studies in 2025, the township is now working on completing a fourth: the Development Charges Backround Study and Bylaw.
Already completed are the:
– Parks and Recreation Plan;
– Water and Wastewater Servicing Plan; and
– Active Transportation and Mobility Plan.
Development charges are fees collected from builders and developers to help pay for the cost of infrastructure required because of growth.
The township is completing this update using growth projections to the year 2051.
The following key dates are provided for this process:
– Jan. 21, 2 pm: Meeting with interested builders and developers to discuss the background Study;
– Feb. 9, 2 pm: A required public meeting, to occur during the regularly scheduled council meeting; and
– Feb. 23, 6 pm: A proposed development charges bylaw is expected to pass during the regularly scheduled council meeting.
The draft Development Charges Background Study prepared by Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. (dated Dec. 19, 2025) is provided on the township’s website.
