Township backing requests for financial support

WELLINGTON NORTH – The township is providing letters of support to New Growth Family Centre Inc. and the Mount Forest Curling Club for those organizations’ efforts to seek grant funding.

“Letters of support from the local municipality play a very significant role when grant applications are being reviewed and approved by provincial and federal agencies,” states a June 6 report from economic development officer Dale Small.

Located in Mount Forest, the New Growth Family Centre  has submitted an application to the Centre Wellington Community Foundation (CWCF) asking for $1,500 to support a therapeutic skill building program for high-need children and youth.

“It’s really the first time where we can actually utilize the Wellington North Youth Fund,” Small remarked in a phone call.

The township partnered with the CWCF before the pandemic, creating two community funds – the Wellington North Youth Fund and the North Wellington Community Fund – that are administered and managed by the CWCF.

The not-for-profit Mount Forest Curling Club has submitted an application to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for an ice plant replacement project, with the potential for $150,000 of a total $200,000 cost (at the high end) to be covered.
