Township abandons portion of Arthur drain
KENILWORTH – Wellington North council has agreed to abandon a portion of a drain in Arthur, at the property owners’ request.
Two property owners submitted a request for Wellington North to abandon part of the drain.
The drain is known as WL Drain 5 & 8 Branch and the section being abandoned is station F0+00 to F 15+20.
A notice sent in August to all owners of land assessed for the drainage works gave them 10 days to request an engineer’s report on the proposed abandonment. No requests were received and council agreed to the abandonment unanimously on Aug. 25.
Following the abandonment, the drain will revert to a private ditch and Wellington North will be relieved of all maintenance responsibilities.
